Our Foundation

The Aroostook Hospice Foundation (AHF) is a nonprofit corporation established in 2009. Our mission is to raise hospice care awareness as well as endowment funds for the Aroostook House of Comfort. The board members, volunteers, and local community are all bound by one common thread—our loved ones. This bond fuels our commitment to making an impact on the lives of our patients and their families.

The members of AHF Board are volunteers charged with oversight of the Aroostook House of Comfort. Their primary responsibilities include property management, volunteer and medical staff support, grant writing, and organizing local fundraisers. Their efforts and the support of volunteers, partnerships with the local community, and the generosity of donors have made it possible to successfully offer hospice and respite care services in Aroostook County.

Your donation is important to continue providing exceptional hospice and respite care services. We invite you to learn more about how you can support the fundraising efforts of the Aroostook Hospice Foundation.

What will my gift ensure?

As we know, terminal illness does not discriminate by age, gender, size, or socioeconomic status. The Aroostook House of Comfort is the only facility north of Auburn to provide inpatient hospice and respite care services to individuals facing a life-limiting illness. Our hospice house provides a much-needed resource to a community that is spread over 6,828 square miles, making travel sometimes lengthy and expensive.

The services offered at the Aroostook House of Comfort also benefit our aging population and those who live alone or with an ailing spouse. Many receive three to six hours of hospice or respite care per week which includes nursing staff, social workers, chaplain, and volunteers. Our inpatient services allow for 24-hour care by a local experienced Medicare-certified hospice care agency relieving the emotional and physical stress on families and caregivers.
