The Aroostook Hospice Foundation held its 3rd Annual Walk for Hospice on Saturday, September 13, at the Caribou High School Track & Trails, raising more than $68,000 in support of the Aroostook House of Comfort! This meaningful event brings our community together to raise funds, promote awareness, and celebrate the lives of those touched by hospice care. The 2025 Walk proudly featured Greenlaw Electric, LLC as our Event Sponsor and the Family of Dr. David Jones as our Memorial Dedication Sponsor, with generous support from Matching Donor, Pineland Farms. We are deeply grateful to all of our sponsors, donors, volunteers, participants, and teams whose commitment and generosity made this day possible. In total, 20 Trail Sponsors, 22 Community Sponsors, 38 Friend Sponsors, and 10 In-Kind Sponsors supported the event, while 24 teams and 364 participants joined together with family, friends, and colleagues for a beautiful day of reflection, hope, and healing.
Save the date! We look forward to seeing you at the 4th Annual Walk for Hospice on Saturday, September 12, 2026.
A truly great doctor is hard to find, difficult to part with, and impossible to forget.
“We can't think of a better way to honor Dr. David Jones than to dedicate the Annual Hospice Walk in his memory. He provided dedicated, compassionate care to hospice patients in the county from 2005 until his death in October 2023 as the Hospice Medical Director. He provided medical care for hospice patients at home for several years and then at the Aroostook House of Comfort once it was built. He supported the hospice house wholeheartedly, believing it would make a huge difference in the comfort and care of our loved ones at the end of their lives when they are most vulnerable. He was and remains well respected for his numerous contributions to health care, both by the local communities and statewide. He loved all aspects of nature and participated in last year's Walk for Hospice. This year, we walk in his memory to honor his contributions to medicine and his legacy by supporting the Aroostook House of Comfort.” - Debbie Jones
