Circle of Care: Dr. Robert Shaw

“Through my 40 years of medical practice, I have found it an honor and a privilege for patients to entrust me with the most important, sensitive aspects of their lives. Following a 28-year career at the Veterans’ Administration providing primary care to those who served our country in peacetime and conflict, I feel blessed now to be able to work alongside the incredible team at hospice. It is with pride and gratitude that I can continue to offer service, support, and compassionate care to patients at the Aroostook House of Comfort.”

Dr. Robert (Bob) Shaw grew up in Veazie, Maine. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine at Orono and, subsequently his medical degree from the University of Vermont. A 3-year family practice residency in Lancaster, Pennsylvania followed. In 1985 he returned to Maine to begin the private practice of family medicine in Mars Hill, he then worked for 28 years at the Caribou Outpatient VA Clinic as the Lead Physician. He has enjoyed assisting at the Aroostook House of Comfort since its opening in 2018. Dr. Shaw resides in Mapleton with his wife Paula. He has 4 grown children and 5 lovely, energetic grandchildren who live nearby. In his free time, Bob enjoys golf and relaxing at his camp at East Grant Lake.
