Aroostook House of Comfort Celebrates 5 Years!

Tuesday, May 9th, the Aroostook Hospice Foundation, owner of the Aroostook House of Comfort, celebrated its 5th anniversary. The Aroostook Hospice Foundation was established in 2009. After years of fundraising campaigns, grant writing, and the efforts of many community members and volunteers, the Aroostook House of Comfort opened its doors in 2018. Since then, the Aroostook House of Comfort has served over 600 patients, supporting their families and caregiver teams from across the State of Maine. The Aroostook House of Comfort is a six-bed, inpatient hospice facility working in partnership with Northern Light Home Care & Hospice, a Medicare-certified hospice agency. Staff, volunteers, and Board members gathered at the Aroostook House of Comfort in recognition of what has been accomplished along with their vision for the future. Through ongoing fundraising efforts such as the annual Golf Classic and the first annual Walk for Hospice, along with grant funding and private donations, the Aroostook House of Comfort can continue to serve this community for many years to come. As the Aroostook Hospice Foundation is a nonprofit organization and does not bill for services, donations are vital for operational and facility costs, Charity Care funding, and mortgage management. Charity Care funding is available to patients and families underinsured, uninsured, or without other financial means with the expenses associated with care received at the Aroostook House of Comfort. Their mission is to provide quality end-of-life care regardless of one’s ability to pay. The Aroostook Hospice Foundation extends its gratitude to the community for their continued support and generosity.
